Tripod Bundle

A center cane surrounded by a ring of three more canes, all the same diameter, packed so every cane touches its neighbors. It's built the same way as the Cross, a center plus rings of canes, with three canes in each ring here. A second ring can go further out for a denser bundle.

How it's made

1. Pull a center cane and three (or more, in a second ring) outer canes, all matching diameter.
2. Pack the outer canes around the center one so each touches its neighbors, forming a tight ring.
3. Fuse the bundle with a reheat, then draw it out from both ends into one smaller-diameter composite rod.
4. Slice the cooled rod crosswise: every slice shows the same ringed arrangement.
