Surrounding Square Bundle

A square center cane framed by a ring of small round canes spaced evenly along its edges, fused and drawn out as one new rod.

How it's made

  1. Marver the center cane into a square cross-section (see Marvering) and pull the small round frame canes to matching diameter.
  2. Pack the round canes evenly along all four sides of the square cane's perimeter, each touching its neighbors.
  3. Fuse the bundle with a reheat, then draw it out from both ends into one smaller-diameter composite rod.
  4. Slice the cooled rod crosswise: every slice shows the same framed-square arrangement.
