Square Grid Bundle

A square grid of already-pulled canes, the same count in every row and column, fused and drawn out as one new rod. In cross-section it reads as a checkerboard.

How it's made

  1. Pull every cane in the grid to matching diameter.
  2. Arrange the canes in a square grid, alternating colors in a checkerboard pattern.
  3. Fuse the grid with a reheat, then draw it out from both ends into one smaller-diameter composite rod.
  4. Slice the cooled rod crosswise: every slice shows the same grid arrangement.
