Encasing

A contrasting color is gathered over a base color before pulling, so the cane shows a colored ring around a solid core when sliced. In the editor the Ring tool draws just the ring, so you can choose what goes inside it; in real glass the center is always filled with the core color, never an empty hole.

How it's made

  1. Gather the base/core color first.
  2. Dip that gather into a pot of the encasing color, coating it evenly.
  3. Reheat and pull the encased gather into a rod. The encasing layer stays round the core the whole length.
