Double/Triple Encasing
Cane doesn't stop at one layer: a second or third contrasting color can be gathered over a core that's already been encased, before anything is pulled. Each layer has its own color and thickness, stacked in the order you gather them, and slicing the finished cane shows every shell nested around the core.
How it's made
- Gather the base/core color first.
- Dip that gather into the first encasing color, coating it evenly, and reheat.
- Dip the once-encased gather into a second encasing color (and a third, if wanted), reheating between each dip so it stays workable.
- Pull the fully layered gather into a rod. Every encasing layer stays as its own concentric shell the whole length.
